Our shark tours are intimate, with a maximum of only six divers per tour. You should feel very calm, confident and in awe of the beauty of the wild animals that you swim freely with. Scuba diving experience is NOT required, this is a snorkeling “free dive”, and our crew will assist and keep you safe to enjoy your experience and feel comfortable while snorkeling in the water.

Most guests are nervous or terrified of sharks before entering the water. However, these are the people that are hardest to get out of the water at the end of the dive. No experience necessary! Our Guides
Our team of professional divers has extensive experience guiding and working as safety divers with sharks. Their knowledge of shark behavior and safety allows us to lead tours with a 100% safety record. As we leave Haleiwa and head out to the shark site along the scenic North Shore your guide will give a safety and informational briefing to help you feel the most prepared to get in the water. You will be sure to leave your visit in Hawaii with a greater understanding and appreciation of sharks.
Since our boat takes a max of only six people, our guide will have eyes on you at all times while in the water. Giving you the best and safest up close experience with sharks is our priority.

What to Expect from Our Boat & Crew

We request that all divers arrive to the Haleiwa harbor between 20-30 minutes prior to the start time of their tour. This will give you time to check in, use the restroom, and get situated on the boat for an on-time departure from the dock.

​Our top priority is to provide our guests with a unique and exclusive experience. Our boat takes a maximum of six people. This small group ensures we can give each person individual attention, leading to a safer and more engaging experience.

Each of our crew members is an experienced waterman/woman and is experienced and knowledgeable about Hawaii’s ocean life and sharks. We will be there to answer your questions about the animals, conditions, and snorkeling.
Equipment & Snorkeling Gear

No prior snorkeling or scuba diving experience is necessary to enjoy swimming with the sharks. However, if you haven’t snorkeled before we recommend practicing in the pool or shallow water to help you feel more comfortable when it’s time to enter the open ocean.

Once on the boat, the crew will provide each person with a mask, fins, and snorkel. All you need to bring is a swimsuit and be ready for fun!

Shark Safety Briefing

How do you snorkel? Is snorkeling scary for non-swimmers? Will the sharks try to eat me? What will I see when swimming with sharks in Hawaii? How do I stay safe in the water with sharks? Don’t Worry! Our crew is there to help answer your questions and curb any fears you might have before getting in the water.

On our way to the shark site, the crew will also go over the safety features of the vessel, emergency procedures, in-water rules, and shark behavior. We want you to have the safest and most enjoyable time aboard.
The Boat Ride Out to Sea

As we drive out to the shark snorkeling sites you can enjoy the epic views! Oahu is one of the most beautiful islands in Hawaii. The coastline boast have beautiful white sand beaches and luscious green mountains.

On the North Shore, you’ll witness the quieter side of the island and watch Mt. Ka’ala and the famous Seven Mile Miracle of surf breaks on the North Shore on the way to see the sharks.

Keep an eye out as we leave the harbor and drive through blue ocean waters! Sometimes we are lucky to spot green sea turtles, Hawaiian monk seals, and Hawaiian spinner dolphins. In the winter months, we often spot humpback whales as we drive out to see the sharks.
Swimming with Sharks in Hawaii

Once we arrive at our site the crew will help you get ready to hop in the water. Our trips are guided snorkel tours. There will be a diver in the water with you to ensure your safety but also point out shark species and any other interesting wildlife.

Upon entering the water, you will be by a bright blue background peppered with sharks. Our safety diver will be in the water with you helping to facilitate the best and safest shark diving experience possible.
Hawaii’s Shark Species & Wildlife

Galapagos Sharks – These sharks are the most common species we encounter on our dives. The Galapagos shark is named for where it was first discovered and is found around equatorial, volcanic islands around the world. As a schooling species, we are often lucky to see more than one Galapagos shark at a time.

Tiger Shark – The largest residential species in the Hawaiian Islands. Tiger sharks are known for their impressive stripes and size. This species can be a rare encounter for us and it is always incredibly special when they swim by. Increased sightings occur in the late summer to early fall.

What should I bring?

There is dry storage on the boat so you are welcome to bring a small bag with a towel, water, or anything else you may need for the experience. Please show up to the harbor prepared and already wearing your swimsuit.

Will I get seasick?

We can’t guarantee that you will experience seasickness on your tour. If you are concerned about motion sickness take a Dramamine or comparable motion sickness drug at least 1hr before boarding the boat.

Should I bring a camera?

Absolutely! You won’t want to miss documenting this trip! If you don’t have an underwater camera or want to leave the photos us. We offer photo and video packages to help you remember your dive. Our professional photographers will document your experience for you so you can enjoy it without worrying about the camera!

How long is the boat ride? How long am I in the water?
-
When leaving the Haleiwa harbor, it takes approximately 15-20 minutes to get to the shark site depending on conditions. That leaves you with around an hour in the water snorkeling with sharks! You are welcome to get in and out of the boat as much as you like during that time.
